A Revolution from Within: Transforming Health and Care in Wales
The Parliamentary Review of Health and Social Care in Wales
Cari-Anne Quinn, Interim CEO of Life Sciences Hub Wales welcomes the Parliamentary Review of Health and Social Care in Wales announced on 16/01/2018.
“The review recommends that Wales should maximise the benefits of technology and innovation to deliver more effective care by focusing on current and emerging technologies, such as smart phone apps, portable diagnostics, digital analytics and artificial intelligence, and genomics to drive the change agenda.
“The government backed Life Sciences Hub Wales is uniquely positioned to progress the recommendations of the review with industry engagement. We are delighted to have the Life Sciences Hub Wales mentioned within the document as part of the delivery solution.
“In 2018 we at the Life Sciences Hub Wales are looking forward to strengthening our links and facilitating more opportunities for innovation and progression for health and care organisations operating here in Wales.
“Because no matter what aspect of life sciences we work in, ultimately we want to achieve prosperity in all its guises – for the benefit of the Welsh economy and to take a giant step forward in improving the health and well-being of all people across Wales.”.
Chair of Life Sciences Hub Wales, Professor Sir Mansel Aylward was a member of the Parliamentary Review and was recently filmed ahead of its publication.
“We are recommending a greater focus on services organised around the individual and their family, as close to home as possible. Services need to be preventative, easy to access and of high quality, which I strongly endorse. They need to be seamless and delivered without artificial barriers. Also, I’m pleased to see the emphasis on using innovation and technology to help improve efficiency and effectiveness”
