Modernising Assessments in Clinical Neuroscience
Wednesday 27th September 2017 (10:00 – 15:30)
Temple of Peace, Cardiff City Centre

We invite you to attend Modernising Assessments In Clinical Neuroscience where we will be showcasing the BRAIN Unit’s activities in the design and validation of novel clinical assessments for use in both research and clinical settings. The specific focus will be on encouraging links between researchers, industry and commercial entities in a rapidly changing field. Our panel of internationally renowned speakers will discuss how they have successfully achieved the translation of their research into commercially available assessments for use with people with neurological disorders. There will also be technology transfer experts on hand to provide information that can guide commercial exploitation of novel research developments.

The speakers are:

– Prof Lynn Rochester, Institute of Neuroscience, Newcastle University Gait as a biomarker in neurodegenerative disease: where are we at?

– Dr Silvia Del Din, Clinical Ageing Research Unit, Newcastle University Realising the potential of gait biomarkers: Translating measurement beyond the laboratory with wearable sensors.

– Dr Ralf Reilmann, George Huntington Institute title TBC.

After lunch there will be various stands on the research of and technologies developed by the BRAIN Unit as well as information on the support available for engagement and collaboration with the BRAIN Unit and Cardiff University. Opportunities for networking will also be provided.
