Life Sciences Hub Wales, The Chris McGuigan Hub, 3 Assembly Square Cardiff Bay, CF10 4PL

What is IP? Intellectual Property (IP) is a term often thrown around by lawyers with many highlighting the importance of IP and how it can be a valuable business asset whilst also providing key protection, however many are left asking the question: But what really is IP?

IP is a term used to describe a range of legal rights that attach to certain types of information and ideas and to their particular forms of expression. Intellectual Property therefore protects the application of ideas and information that are of commercial value and, if used correctly, can be a key asset.

Businesses should be aware of the different IP rights available to ensure that they can protect what they create, maximise their competitive position and avoid infringing the IP rights of other people and businesses.

Experts from Berry Smith lawyers will provide you with a greater understanding of the fundamentals of intellectual property and how you can protect your business ideas.
The seminar will focus on:

  • What is intellectual property
  • The power of intellectual property
  • Why every business needs an IP strategy
  • Distinguishing between:
    • Patents
    • Trade marks
    • Copyright
    • Database right
    • Designs
    • Confidentiality
    • Exploiting your IP
